Learn more about Jan Piercy Art.

Spring 2020 the world went crazy and I began paint. What began as a creative outlet during the COVID-19 outbreak continues to develop into a growing collection of artwork. Paintings are a combination of realism and impressionism. Scenes that predominate are Landscapes of the Northwest, Aspen trees , Night Skies and the Lake Tahoe area.

I grew up in Northern California and retired to beautiful Southern Oregon. My Mother was an artist. I had no idea that I could create works of art until 2020. I create paintings that feature texture, color, and nature. I am a grandma and retired healthcare worker. I enjoy exploring the western states, photography and hiking.

Paintings are created with acrylic paint and most are highly textured palette knife (Impasto). Palette knife artwork comes off the canvas into nature scenes that can be actually touched and felt. Nature themes abound with Aspen forests, conifers, maples and oaks. Animals frequently show up as do fields of flowers. My art is impressionism with a dose of realism.

I want to acknowledge and thank my mentor and teacher, Jennifer Vranes, for the artwork her lessons inspired.
